WHY IS EDD GIVING AWAY THAT SUIT FOR FREE, HE HAS NO CONCEPT OF THE VALUE OF A DOLLAR. That fancy lamp definitely fits the Eddy family’s gaudy tastes though. That Godzilla toy seems like it should belong to Ed, but there are model kits in the Eddy attic…. Those ice skates could be his parents’ old stuff or maybe they’re canon evidence of Eddy’s dad series-bible-era fears that Eddy’ll become a figure skater…. It looks like they found some of Eddy’s old comic books. Other than that, it’s all pretty regular stuff. That duck is definitely one of Eddy’s parents’ belongings, you can find many duck paintings and decorations in their home… also in Kevin’s home (although Kev’s house has an owl painting too, so maybe it’s a more general bird interest). That shoe and hourglass seem like they should belong to Edd, but maybe Eddy kept the shoes, because I can imagine the rest of this stuff being part of Eddy’s parents’ horde. Both shoes appear, still broken or broken once again, next season in ‘Three Square and an Ed’. Look, he repaired one of the elevator shoes from ‘A Pinch To Grow An Ed’ last season. I believe it also comes back in season 5’s ‘Run Ed Run’ among other callback helmet designs.Įdd’s been setting up a garage sale table. Wow, one of the very first references to an earlier episode.

Hey, isn’t that Eddy’s race car helmet from ‘Ready, Set, Ed’ 4 episodes ago? Let’s see: Sometimes his voice is specifically deep even! Watching old episodes, it’s really great to see all the ways Tony Sampson used to AVOID yelling with Eddy’s voice, he sounds a lot more real (and crackly) back here. Ed has all the powers of the cartoon universe and this is still the best way he can find to occupy his time.Įd found his props because the Eds are going through junk for a garage sale! Eddy quietly frets, like a worried mother, that Ed neglected to eat breafast. We open on Ed pretending to drive a truck through Eddy’s garage. This episode was storyboarded by Big Jim and Jason Surridge, who have also brought us ‘Eeny Meeny Miney Ed’ and ‘Know It All Ed’, so far. Perhaps it’s supposed to mean he is a private eye rather than a spy exactly? Iunno An eyeball rests in the ‘d’ in “Ed” but when the title switches to the storyboard credit, the eye is oddly still fused to the trenchcoat. The title card depicts what appear to be a child’s hands holding up binoculars underneath an oversized adult disguise, typical spy attire. Both of these connect to the episode, in that it is about the Eds assuming spy roles in order to try and dig up dirt on Kevin.

This episode is named in reference to the phrase “In Like Flynn,” meaning to achieve access to something, or the movie ‘In Like Flint’, which is about a spy operation. I don’t know if I exactly dislike the episodes, but there’s just something melancholy that I’ll hopefully be able to point out in this analysis. Unfortunately, I’ve always found both of the episodes in Episode 18 to fall under this category. Usually it’s the result of stories that focus more on being negative than just being realistic. As much of an improvement over season 1 as season 2 was, there are a bunch of episodes this season that I’m not fond of.
